2D Video Game Design (Ages 8--15)

Design a basic 2D video game on the PC with no prior experience required. Our professional instructors will take your child from start to finish. Learn computer graphics techniques and animation fundamentals.  Create an exciting landscape for your game. Next, add realism to the scene with Action Collision Detection and Sound. Take home the game you created and play it with friends.The software is not included with the disc but it is available for purchase at http://stagecast.com/index.html. Students will work in teams of two per computer.  Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration.

Educational Concepts: Math, Computer Science, Computer Graphics.

Lab Fee: $50 payable to Funutation on the first day                     

3D Video Game Design (Pre-requisite 2D Game Video Game Design or programming knowledge) (Ages 8-15)

Take your child's skills to the next level with our 3D programming course. Add light and texture to create a realistic environment. Place characters in the 3D environment. Program the character's mobility and your game becomes lifelike. Students go home with a disc of their game. The software is not included with the disc but it is available for purchase at www.blitzbasic.com. Students will work in teams of two per computer. Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration.

Educational Concepts: Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Computer Graphics, Math.

Lab Fee: $50 payable to Funutation on the first day  

Web Design with Animation (Ages 8-15)

Create a Web site that highlights your creativity! Make your Web site the one everybody is talking about. Students will learn the basics of HTML programming, Web design, and basic animation. Students will add text and images to their personal sites as well as learn how to get their sites indexed by search engines like Google. Your child will pick up Internet safety lessons in addition to learning how to program their own Web sites. Students will get a CD of their Web site to take home. Students will work in teams of two per computer. Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration.

Educational Concepts: Computer Science, Computer Graphics.

Robotronix (Ages 8-15)

This camp is an introduction to building and programming robots. Students will learn mechanical design, construction, programming, and teamwork skills. Students learn how to build and program a (SumoBot®) robot that can detect an opponent and avoid obstacles. Students go home with the robot they build and a copy of the program they write. Students will work in teams of two per computer. Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration.

How to Build and Repair Computer (Ages 8-15)

Want a faster computer with more memory? This is the class for you. Students will take apart a working computer. In the process they will learn the location and purpose of computer hardware like the hard drive, memory, and CPU. Next, the computer will be reassembled. Students will install an operating system, security software, and perform technology upgrades. Finally "bugs" will be introduced into the computers for the students to troubleshoot. Students keep the refurbished computers that they build! This class is offered at the basic and the more advanced A+ level. Students will work in teams of two per computer. Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration.

Digital Music Production (Ages 8-15)

In Digital Music, your child will learn how to make digital music on a computer and how music is made digitally. They will work with industry professionals in creating sounds from numerous instruments, mixing, looping and sampling using computer programs. Each student gets to take home a CD of the music they created. Students work groups of 4-6.  Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration

Lab Fee: $60  payable to Funutation on the first day

 

The Java Programmer (Ages 11-15) NEW!!

In this advanced course, students will study Object Oriented Programming (OOP) using the Java programming language. They will examine topics such as networking, algorithms, and game design. Students will leave with a CD containing Java programming tools and their Java games and applications!  Students will work in teams of two per computer.  Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration.

Handheld Wireless Remote Interface Bottom of Form(Like a Wii ™) (Ages 11-15) NEW!!

Learn how to build a wireless-remote control for your computer. The hand held unit can be used as a mouse or to interact with computer games.   See the results on the screen as you move a mouse & play games.  The remote will be a fully functional wireless control that can be used on most computers.  Students will learn how to solder electronics.  The controller will not work with Wii ™ games or on Wii ™ gaming system.  Students get to keep the controller they make.  Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration.

Animatronic Pets and Dinosaurs (Like Chuck-E-Cheese) (Ages 8-15) NEW!!

Choose hand puppets to animate.  The skeleton is built for the puppet and servo mechanisms are programmed so that the puppet performs a show!  Finally the theatre production is ready.  Parents see the show on the last day of class.  Students get to keep their character. Students will work in teams of two. Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration.

Build a Linux Web Server (Ages 12-15) NEW!!

Students install Linux on a computer so that it can communicate with other Linux and Windows computers.  Students learn to exchange files and setup email services.  Next students program the computer to be a web server and learn fundamental techniques on how to secure it from hackers, viruses, spyware, and more.  Students get to keep their programming and learn concepts to prepare them for the Linux+ Certification Exam. Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration

C++ Programming (Ages 11-15) NEW!!

C++ Programming is used worldwide for creating games, real-time C++ simulations, web design.  Students will learn cutting-edge programming techniques to become excellent programmers C++ programmers and retain skills to make it easier to learn languages like JAVA, C, and more.    Students will work in teams of two per computer. Students keep their programming work.  Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration

Advanced Robotics (Ages 8-15) NEW!

Students work in a team of 4-6 to build a full-scale competitive robot for path following, maze calculations, fire fighting and more. Robots are built from scratch and are programmable from a computer. Instructor works with winning RoboCup teams worldwide in tournaments. Students take home a programmable minibot. Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration.

Advanced Computer Game Programming (Ages 8-15)

Students can take what they learned in 2D and 3D Game Programming and expand games so that they work with multiple players over a network and even over the internet.  Concepts learned lead to massive-multiplayer games. Students get to keep the game they made. Students work in teams of two per computer.  Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration

Digital Video (Ages 8-15) NEW!!

Learn the basics of manual camera operation using advanced digital cameras.  This course will cover: shot composition, manual focus, and techniques for producing quality video while shooting in the field.  Students will also use professional editing software to add effects, audio, and graphics to their projects.  During this class students shoot short documentaries ads, and comedy sketch videos. Each student gets to take home a DVD of their work.  Students work in teams of 4-6.  Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, and beverage daily. Parents are invited on the last hour of the last day for a demonstration
